Using a highly specialized and experienced team of professionals, AGSI is a dominating force in providing technology and information solutions. Since 1993, it has revolutionized corporate decision making by presenting user friendly, comprehensive programs for analyzing, managing, and collecting information that directly impacts the profitability of any business.

As the Vice President of IT, Alan successfully leads IT support for a team of over 50 developers, geographers, project managers, field researchers, data entry personnel, and administrators. He continuously researches new technology directions for product development which plays a significant role in building the company to its current state. Alan consistently maintains vendor relationships and purchasing for companies such as Dell, Microsoft, and Oracle, all while discretely collaborating across teams to share confidential information and coordinate IT resources at both physical and electronic meetings. On top of this, he is in charge of specifying, writing, and distributing IT/Security policies and procedures that ensure a smooth work environment.

Founder

While working with Angus GeoSolutions Inc. Alan took steps to create a more comfortable, casual environment to exchange new information and up-and-coming practices between other IT professionals by forming Halton IT Pros. Since its formation, the group now boasts over 400 members and has become an essential part of the Halton IT community with its unique and refreshing atmosphere.

Specializing in providing cost effective, on-site computer solutions to small and medium sized businesses, this international company has become a well known authority in everything from asset management to complete IT department outsourcing. While focusing on their TEAM-based approach they have become widely recognized for their client satisfaction and productivity.

Taking on the role of Pod Leader, Alan was responsible for co-leading a team of independent IT consultants performing in all areas of computer and technology services. Alan successfully grew the team from a mere four consultants to twenty-three while boasting the lowest recall rate of all teams and a consistent 98% or higher customer satisfaction rating.



September 1986 to March 2006

Holderbank Engineering Canada Ltd. (Holcim Canada)

IT Manager

A member of Holcim Group, a Swiss-based international construction and vertically integrated building materials company, widely recognized for its social responsibility, leadership in environmental endeavours, and financial performance. Holderbank Engineering Canada Ltd., now LafargeHolcim, focuses on strength, performance, and passion while working towards becoming the world’s most respected company in the industry.

As an IT Manager with Holderbank Engineering Canada, Alan led a team of seven IT professionals to support up to 300 users in the engineering division responsible for designing, constructing and renovating projects valued at over one billion dollars. He was responsible for streamlining their workflow by implementing pre-internet global email systems using Lotus Notes, upgrading from mini-computers to networked microcomputers, and by upgrading the entire company from DOS to Windows. He depreciated all technology to zero value over four years and maintained a program to replace all equipment every four years.

JRP Systems

Customer Service Manager

The top of their field until their dissembling in 1985, JRP Systems set the standard for Local Area Networking and Computer Aided Design. Responsible for the formation of LANDA (Local Area Network Dealers Association) and TRACE (Toronto Region AutoCAD), their staff proved themselves to be innovative members of the IT industry.

Alan was an irreplaceable member of the customer service team during his three year span with the company. While growing the company from its modest beginning of three members to the largest CAD/networking dealer in the area, Alan was responsible for a team of five technicians as well as efforts for standardization of networking for CAD applications. As a co-founder of both TRACE and LANDA, he stepped above and beyond his position as a Customer Service manager to make significant strides in developing the IT community.
